CSKA-2009 won playoffs of the Moscow championship

On April 12, the third game of the playoff finals between teams born in 2009 took place. CSKA had won the previous two games against Dynamo, and needed just one win to secure a spot in the Russian Championship.

The Army Men opened the scoring early in the match, scoring on a delayed penalty. Roman Zubko scored the first goal. Thirty seconds before the break, Bogdan Yakushevsky doubled the lead with a precise shot into the top corner.

Midway through the second period, CSKA tried to capitalize on the power play, but Artem Katsuro managed to change the score at even strength. Dynamo then had a chance to capitalize on the power play, and unfortunately, they succeeded. However, Artem Katsuro restored the three-goal lead four minutes later with a beautiful goal from a tight angle.

The third period opened with a quick goal from Gleb Zhukov, and a couple of minutes later, another one flew into the opposing net from Ivan Rossinsky, who scored on the rebound. The blue-and-whites then conceded a goal from Dmitry Nikolaev. After the seventh goal, the visitors decided to change their goalie, but the backup goalie who came on lasted only 50 seconds. Bogdan Yakushevsky found a lucky spot in the crease and fired into the empty corner after passes from Dmitry Savin and Yaroslav Trofimov. Artem Katsuro completed the scoring spree, his third goal of the game. CSKA-2009 defeated Dynamo Moscow with a score of 9-1 and won the Moscow Championship playoffs. The Army Men will travel to Ufa to represent Moscow in the Russian Championship.

2009 CSKA head coach Mikhail Viktorovich Deev:

- We ended on a high note. I can't remember the last time we lost at this arena. I'm grateful to the guys for maintaining their focus throughout the game. It's fitting that we played the final game of the Moscow Championship on home ice, which brought us so much joy throughout the season. Now we'll rest, do some recovery work, and then we'll prepare for the 2009 Russian Championship, and then the juniors. We need to switch gears, so I'll give the guys a little time to recover."

2009 CSKA forward Bogdan Yakushevsky:

- We had a great result, a good game. We're very happy to have won the playoffs and are going to the Russian Championship. The series was easier than when we played juniors, since our opponent had a lot of seniors on their roster. But we should have won today no matter what."
