The CSKA hockey school has landed among the top three youth sports schools in Russia based on the results of last season.
In September 2023, the Kontinental Hockey League Board of Directors approved a program for payments to schools and coaches based on ratings. The evaluation methodology was developed to determine the quality of youth hockey schools and coaches in mastering hockey players playing in the KHL Championship. The final data from the last four seasons is used to calculate the parameter scores.
Following the 2024/2025 season, the CSKA Hockey School scored 265.59 points, ranking third among all hockey schools in Russia. A rating of coaches of children's and youth schools was also compiled. They are ranked by the number of graduates who play at a high level. Fifth place went to Rinat Khasanov, who worked for several years at the CSKA Hockey School, coached the Red Army to the Kharlamov Cup final, and now coaches the Zvezda. Several hockey players with whom he worked at school play for the flagship CSKA team: Maxim Sorkin, Prokhor Poltapov, Dmitry Gamzin. Eighth place is occupied by Alexander Levitsky, who worked at the army school for many years and coached the 2001 CSKA team to victory in the Russian Championship three times, and then coached the Red Army until his death in 2021. And now Igor Levitsky – a son Alexander Georgievich's – currently coaches at the school.
