The teams started the first period at a moderate pace, yet the guests had sharp game from time to time. Adam Reideborn's play was strong. At the end of the period, Mikhail Grigorenko and Amir Garayev received a mutual sending-off. During a 4-on-4 game, Andrey Svetlakov did not convert a 1-0 exit at first, but then he took the puck himself and opened the score in the match. CSKA went for a break, leading with 0:1.

After the break, the hosts managed to turn the tables. After 36 seconds, Brandon Gormley settled the score, and soon after that Dmitry Zavgorodniy gave Sochi a lead. The CSKA team was trying to crash into the defense of the hosts for a long time. Takhir Mingachev managed to do it in the 36th minute of the match, though, after a cool pass from behind the goal cage by Matvey Guskov, resulting in 2:2.

Three and a half minutes before the end of the third period, Andrey Svetlakov first scored a double, and then Mikhail Grigorenko set the final score. 4:2 is a difficult, but such an important victory.
