CSKA lost second game of the series

For the second game of the series against Avangard, CSKA's coaching staff made no changes to the lineup, save for one. Takhir Mingachev replaced Alexei Churkin on the fourth line.

Our team played an active first period and outplayed their opponents, creating several scoring chances both at even strength and on the power play. However, the final shot was always off target. The opponent, initially playing defensively, gradually began to pile pressure on Dmitry Gamzin's net. At first, Omsk launched dangerous attacks on the power play, with Gamzin making a couple of saves, and once, the crossbar came through. But in a less-than-clear situation, Avangard opened the scoring. Poturalski's shot from the boards was unstoppable. The second period unfolded in a similar fashion. The Army Men looked good, playing at a high pace, spending a lot of time in the offensive zone and having good chances on offense, yet they couldn't get past Serebryakov. Omsk made dangerous runs on the counterattack, but mostly missed the target. It seemed the score would remain the same until the break, but an unfortunate accident led to a second goal against us. After Okulov's shot from a zero angle, the puck ricocheted unpleasantly and slipped under the goal line. The offensive drought was broken in the third period. Defenseman Nick Ebert joined the attack and scored a great goal, leaving the goalie no chance. Unfortunately, he couldn't seize the initiative with this goal; the opponent quickly responded, capitalizing on the power play. The Army Men held off the shot and continued to aggressively advance. A lucky rebound allowed Nikolai Kovalenko to close the gap, and a tense battle ensued on the ice until the final seconds. The Army Men pulled their goalie and played with six men for a long time, but Omsk was able to defend, and no game-winning goal was scored.

The third game of the series will be held on April 12 in Moscow, kickoff at 5:00 PM.
