CSKA held another regular season match in Ufa against the local Salavat Yulaev. Both teams sought to rehabilitate themselves for defeats in previous matches. The CSKA lost at home to Avtomobilist in a shootout, and Salavat was close to salvation at home against SKA, but still lost with 3:4. The main change in the roster of the CSKA team was the appearance of goalkeeper Dmitry Gamzin as the starter. The young goalkeeper played reliably, already in the first period having reflected several dangerous throws, in one episode the crossbar came to his aid. Alexander Samonov also helped out his team, a couple of times he stopped the active Prokhor Poltapov, once again at the last moment he pulled a puck out from under him. The teams failed to score goals in the second 20 minutes as well, although they did not sit out defensively.
Once the CSKA players played shorthanded, two more minutes were played in the 4 vs 4 format, and here CSKA could have scored easily, Samonov had to clean up after defenders. It was a one-goal game, and the Ufa players waited for their chance. In the 55th minute, Alexander Sharov brought Josh Leivo to the throw from the free space, and he pocketed the chance. CSKA had the opportunity to recoup after the dismissal of the same Leivo. Gamzin gave way to a fielder, and CSKA attacked in a 6 vs 4 format. But Samonov failed to break through, and Nikita Zorkin hit an empty goal with a throw from his zone. It was not possible to score goals in the first match of the away series.
