CSKA lost third game of the series

The third game of the series between CSKA and Avangard took place in Moscow. Our team couldn't afford a slip-up to prevent the series from becoming critical. Forward Denis Zernov played for CSKA for the first time this playoff, joining Prokhor Poltapov and Maxim Sorkin on a line. Forward Alexei Churkin also returned. Rhett Gardner and Vitaly Abramov were left out of the lineup compared to the previous game.

The game opened with a quick goal – the Army Men opened the scoring for the first time in the series. After a loose puck was thrown into the offensive zone, it bounced to Ivan Drozdov, who managed to keep it on the blue line and fire it at the net. A redirect by Pavel Karnaukhov made it 1-0. After that, the teams didn't open up; there was a lot of physical play, but few scoring chances. Our team had some interesting approaches to the goal, but they couldn't double their lead. The visitors gradually improved their game and finally found their moment. Avangard's attack dragged on, and the Army Men couldn't clear the puck from their zone, leading to Giovanni Fiore's rebound. Omsk took the lead in the second period. Defenseman Gulyaev, who had joined the attack, scored a precise shot under the crossbar. The Army Men rushed forward and stormed the goal. Jeremy Roy received a pass from Prokhor Poltapov and fired home without resistance. In the third period, our team had every chance to build on their momentum and snatch the victory, but the visitors managed to fight back. But the game took a different turn in overtime. It all started with a penalty for CSKA. The Army Men fought back confidently, but this period gave the visitors confidence, and they never relinquished the initiative. The Omsk team took numerous shots at Gamzin's goal and eventually converted one of their chances in front of the goal. We're losing and have no room for error.
