One of the most valuable CSKA players in this playoffs, Maxim Shalunov, was disqualified for the fifth game which was bad news for coach Igor Nikitin. However, it was CSKA, who was more active from the start. Army men had couple of good chances but Avangard survived.
In the second period CSKA still tried to attack most of the time but Avangard was very good in defence and blocked many shots. The team from Omsk found theit chance in quick counterattacks. Damir Sharipzyanov opened the score and Reid Boucher doubled his team's advantage with a shorthanded goal.
CSKA tried to save the day until the end but wasn't able to score at least once. Avangard wins and makes it 3-2 in the Finals.
