CSKA Moscow – Torpedo. Coaches' Comments

Head coaches of the teams summed up the results of the match.

Ilya Vorobyov, head coach of CSKA:

— A good game that has become a smooth continuation of the previous one, in the same style. The only pity is that Pavel Khomchenko didn't shut the door today. I think he deserves it. The three-by-five got to the puck. It was a solid, good game on our part.

— Was the instruction the same for both games?

— To be honest, it was the same. Both teams are playing, and the game strategy was the same.

— Can we say that you were calm in these two games, or were you a little worried somewhere?

— Life is a boomerang. We were very worried before that. Maybe it was easier in these two games.

— Given the big score, is it necessary to avoid fighting at the end of the match in order not to get new injuries?

— This is a difficult question. As an athlete, you don't want to lose. When the score is so high, you start to bully. In fact, there aren't many injuries in fights. The only thing is, you could get your hand cut off somewhere. There were a lot of fights in my time, but now there are serious fights every 5-10 games. Ice hockey has gone a bit into speed, into another area.

Igor Larionov, head coach of Torpedo:

— Congratulations to the opponent on the victory, on a good game. Unfortunately, we didn't find the energy for today's game. It's hard to say anything because the score is 1:6.

— You said that you didn't find the strength today. What do you mean, physical or moral, and why?

— Most likely, both, because we have a short bench. We lose people in almost every game. We have 6-7 people injured right now. They are quite experienced guys. Young people are trying to prove themselves, but it's not easy to do it with strong opponents. Nevertheless, life goes on. We will move forward and look for the reserves that we have in the team. There are players from the VHL, even if they have no experience. But that's life, and tomorrow is a new day, we need to prepare for the home game.

— How justified are the fights and how are the guys' health following the match? Is there any new damage?

— I told the guys after the game that in the third period they did not give up and continued to fight. We played good hockey, although not the best, but there was that desire and aspiration. It is clear that we will not bring back today, because it is already in history. Here it is important to go through it, forget this evening as soon as possible and move on. We have two home games to prepare for, even though we lost. But this should not be in their head, and it is important to switch, find the strength to start a new day in a different mood. Tomorrow is the guys' day off, and then we'll prepare for the home games.

— Are there any new injuries?

— Igor Larionov Jr. has an injury. It's a very difficult fracture. He's on his way to the hospital now.
