Late drama as Dynamo denies CSKA

Statistics.

The first period of the Moscow derby was held with a slight advantage of Dynamo. The owners of the ice overthrew the CSKA players on target — 9:7. But Ivan Fedotov played very reliably. In at least three moments, the CSKA goal guard really helped out his team. The hosts had a power play, Darren Dietz was dismissed. It did not work out to use their attempt, the CSKA player acted well at their goal. Vitaly Abramov was running away from CSKA towards the Dynamo goal, but the shot missed the target. As a result — 0:0 after twenty minutes of the game.

The second period began unsuccessfully for CSKA, with the dismissal of Sergey Plotnikov. Dynamo used its chance almost immediately. Nikita Gusev shot, and Dmitry Rashevsky set up the stick — 1-0. The return goal also fell on the power play. Anton Malyshev retired from Dynamo. The CSKA team famously stretched the defense of the hosts, and Anton Slepyshev equalized the score — 1:1. CSKA also managed to get ahead in the power play. Andrey Mironov threw the puck away and went to the bench. A little over a minute before the end of the period, Maxim Mamin put his team ahead — 1:2. The second period ended with this score.

In the third period, CSKA managed to fight back short-handed, and then increase the advantage. Konstantin Okulov brought Nikita Nesterov to an empty goal with a cool pass. The CSKA captain threw accurately — 1:3. It seemed that the CSKA players were heading for a confident victory. But the ice masters made a comeback and won in overtime.
