The hosts started the game more actively. Torpedo had several chances to break the ice at once, but Aleksandr Sharychenkov, who took a place in the goal from the first minutes, had a strong game. The CSKA players answered less frequently, yet effectively. In the middle of the period, Matvey Guskov turned out to be the quickest at the Torpedo's goal and led CSKA forward with an uncomfortable one. The hosts rushed to recoup, earned a sending-off, but CSKA doubled the advantage playing shorthanded: Maksim Sorkin scored from the Andrey Svetlakov's pass.
At the start of the second period, CSKA got the opportunity of a power play, but failed to take advantage of it. However, on the second attempt Maksim Mamin managed to use the carom on a goal crease. The fans didn't see any more goals in this period — 3-0.
In the third period, Igor Larionov's team hurled all effort into a recoup. Nonetheless, CSKA managed to keep the earned advantage. And a minute before the end of the match, Maksim Sorkin scored the fourth goal — 4:0.
