After SKA was defeated in the first match of the series, team from Saint-Petersberg changed their starting goalie. Alexander Samonov played instead of Magnus Hellberg. Samonov was not bad tonight but at the start of the second period he gave up when Maxim Shalunov came into the zone and made a shot. After this episode SKA began to make more and more mistakes in the defence. CSKA had many chances to double the score but Samonov made couple of good saved and helped his team to stay in the game.
Only in the third period SKA tried to come back. They got some power play, and now it was CSKA goalie Lars Johansson, who had to work hard. The Swedish player was great again and made his third consecutive shutout in the playoffs. In the end he even made an assist when Konstantin Okulov scored in the empty net. 2:0 in the game and 2-0 in the series.
