Sunday's match with Severstal was dedicated to the memory of Valery Kharlamov, the legend of CSKA and the USSR national team. On January 14, the famous hockey player could have turned 75 years old. The CSKA players came to the game with special stickers on their helmets in honor of the great player, and a symbolic shot was made by Andrey, Valery Kharlamov's six-year-old grandson.
From the first minutes, CSKA played actively, threatening the goal cage of Severstal. Ten and a half minutes later Nikita Nesterov opened the score with a powerful shot from the blue line — 1-0. Soon the CSKA were left shorthanded, Pavel Karnaukhov was sent off for blocking. The guests converted their chance, Daniil Vovchenko scored. The first period ended with 1:1.
In the second period, CSKA also gained the power play. Vladislav Kamenev converted it with a one timer. On the second break, the CSKA team took the lead — 2:1.
The third period started unsuccessfully. After 22 seconds, the guests equalized score thanks to Igor Geraskin. CSKA responded perfectly to this goal, scoring twice in a minute. First, Konstantin Okulov scored a masterpiece goal, and immediately after that Pavel Karnaukhov corrected Christian Yarosh's shot. We beat Severstal at home with 4:2.
