Danila Khulapov: It was unexpected to become the best player, but it was nice

The 20-year-old attacker of the red and blue shared his emotions from the debut score in the KHL.

- I entered the zone, escaped the opponents and just sent the puck to the blue line, and there were the guys - Tema (Artem Sergeev) made a shot, and Max (Maksim Sorkin) directed the puck to the cage. Basically, an ordinary moment, but a good and important goal for the team, and that's the most important thing.

- What does it mean for you to earn the first point in the KHL?

- I've been waiting for this for a long time. This was not the first game. The next aim is a goal, it is an even more striking event.

- Which of the guys congratulated you first?

-  It was Goose (Matvey Guskov), probably. He's already afraid that I'll catch up with him (smiles).

- Who else wrote?

- Parents, girlfriend, friends sent messages.

- Did you expect that in the locker room they would choose you as the best player of the match?

- It was unexpected, but pleasant. Marcel and I were discussing the game moment and at that time Andrey (the best player of the Moscow match with Admiral on October 16 was Andrey Svetlakov) said that I was the best player.

- Did you get a round of applause?

- They applauded, I made a speech.

- What did he say?

- That everyone did well, after a long flight they got an important win in terms of the standings.

- How would you rate the match? The second game in this season is against Admiral and both games turned out to be fighting.

- A difficult game. Probably, first of all because of the long, difficult flight. The physical condition after nine hours in the sky cannot be perfect. But all the guest teams play like that here.

- They say that the most important thing on arrival in the Far East is to fall asleep. Did you get enough sleep?

- I slept through the night. I hardly slept on the plane, only the first two hours. And tonight I immediately crashed out. I woke up a couple of times because it was very hot, but I slept all night. And I could sleep on (laughs).

- Have you been to the Far East before?

- Yes, I flew to Khabarovsk a couple of times with the youth team. But this is my first time in Vladivostok.

-  The next opponent is no gift either. How will you prepare yourself for the match against Amur?

- I am equally serious about setting myself up for any opponent. I'm still young, I need to prove myself, to help the team. It is necessary to take revenge and, preferably, do it confidently.
