CSKA President Igor Esmantovich commented on winning Russian championship in the 2019-20 season.
"CSKA was preparing for full season, but unfortunately pandemia stopped our campaign for second Gagarin Cup. We refer to this title with understanding and are very glad because our club deserved it. Though many skeptics say that the same team should be champion of Russia and Gagarin Cup winner, CSKA always categorically against it.
We understand that regular season and Gagarin Cup in fact are two different tournaments. We have won regular season and passed through the first round of playoffs, tried hard to win every single game. And I think this is enough for Federation to make a reasonable decision. We congratulate our fans with deserved win in Russian championship", - Esmantovich said.
