CSKA wins in Yekaterinburg

CSKA took part in its first-ever KHL game at the new arena in Yekaterinburg - the UMMC Arena. The day before, our team tried out the local ice, and today they faced one of the Eastern Conference leaders, Avtomobilist. CSKA had a few changes in its lineup compared to the game in Astana. The defense line remained unchanged, along with goalie Pavel Khomchenko. On offense, the team updated its combinations. Vladislav Kamenev, who played in a trio with Maxim Mamina and Kirill Dolzhenkov, returned to the lineup. Together with the team's top scorers - Maxim Sorkin and Prokhor Poltapov - Stanislav Galiev, the author of the double against Barys, took the ice.

Galiev also scored today, becoming the author of the first goal in the history of the new arena. The opening period of the game was held with the advantage of our team, and the goal was a logical conclusion. Stanislav received the puck on the puck's backhand and shot from the point. The Army team played on new ice more confidently than the home team, and the lead continued to grow. The second goal was the result of a lucky bounce from the goalie to the opponent, Prokhor Poltapov received the puck and shot on goal. Soon Maxim Mamin scored in the minority, taking the puck away from Nick Ebert. However, on the same power play, Avtomobilist scored their first goal of the game, but that didn't stop our team. Poltapov did a double and sent the Avtomobilist goalie to rest early. His replacement almost missed right away from Pavel Karnaukhov, but the goal was prevented by the bar. However, there was no easy ending. The home team picked up the pace and went on the chase, scoring two goals and reviving the intrigue that had held until the final seconds. The Army men played disciplined defense for the final two minutes and held on for the win.
