The Kontinental Hockey League and the Russian Hockey Federation agreed on the 2022-2023 season’s structure.

The 15th KHL season will start on Sep 1 with the Opening Cup game between the reigning Gagarin Cup champions, CSKA Moscow, and the runner-up, Metallurg, in the Russian capital.

The KHL regular season will end on Feb 26, with the Gagarin Cup playoffs scheduled between Mar 1 and Apr 29.

Moreover, the regular season will have a pause reserved for the Channel One Cup between Dec 12-18, while on Dec 10-11 the FONBET KHL All-Star Game will take place in Chelyabinsk.

It’s planned that the League’s teams will play 68 regular-season games, but this has to be approved by the KHL Commission.

Earlier the KHL Commission confirmed the new alignment for the season. The only change is Kunlun Red Star moving from the Eastern to the Western Conference, in the Tarasov Division.
