I'm originally from Calgary, Alberta, Canada." In Canada, as in Russia, we love hockey. My two younger brothers and I used to play shinny. I’ve bounced around a bit and it’s been a long grind to finally pull on the sweater here at CSKA, but now I'm glad to be here.
I'm an all-situation player. I can play both in the majority and in the minority. I'm a two-way forward who can chip in offensively and play responsibly in my own end. I'd say clearing the puck and my wheels are my bread and butter.
I'll be rocking the 22 for CSKA. I used to rock the 5, but Samorukov’s got the sweater here. My younger brother wore number 22 as a youth player, and I also played with that number for Manchester in the AHL. So it was a no-brainer.
The KHL is a league with a lot of talent: everyone can play well and skate fast. I like that people here play with respect for each other. They play hard-nosed hockey, but there are almost zero dirty play after the whistle.
Back when I rolled here before, I checked out Red Square – absolute top-beauty of a spot. Moscow is a city with a great history. I hope to get to know her better as I plan to spend the next couple of years here.
I just want to buy in and do my job. The system and expectations here are through the roof. We are working on game chemistry, good habits, and developing as a team. This process is not simple or quick, it may take some time.
