A year without Alexander Gusev

Before making his CSKA debut, the Army DPSS pupil played together with Valery Kharlamov at Zvezda from Chebarkul. Aleksandr Gusev was noted for his excellent skating, sense of first pass and excellent shooting. The rearguad played 313 games (64 goals) in USSR championships and was listed as the best player of the season more than once.

After his career ended, Alexander coached SKA MBO (Kalinin) from 1984 to 1990. He continued to play in veteran tournaments as part of the USSR Hockey Legends hockey club until his death.
