Matvey Guskov: it is doubly important for me when my father sits on the podium

20-year-old striker of the red and blue Matvey Guskov spoke to journalists after the Moscow Mayor's Cup match with “Amur”.

- The game was hard - the preseason tournament, everyone is rolling in. The match turned out to be interesting. Unfortunately, we lost in one goal, but the guys were great, they all fought.

- What tasks do you set yourself for the season?

- Get a foothold in the first team. Do everything to help the team win, and show themselves on the ice. This is my personal priority. If we talk about a team task, then CSKA, as always, sets itself only the highest goals and objectives - this is the conquest of the Gagarin Cup. In the VHL and MHL - this is always the first place.

- Is there an understanding of how realistic it is to gain a foothold in the base at the beginning of the season?

- Of course, all young players must earn a place in the main team with their play. If you are given a chance, then you have to justify it in every shift and show yourself from the best side.

- How does it feel to play when your father is sitting in the stands?

- For me it is doubly important. I always want to please him. My father told me that when he sits on the podium, he gets the feeling that he himself is taking part in the game. My father is very worried about me, so it is very important for me to please him with my game, and I do everything for this.

- How are you feeling after two defeats in a row?

- It doesn't matter if it's a pre-season tournament or a regular season, you need to win every match. Unpleasant start, but we draw conclusions and move on. Let's see the games, talk to the coaching staff.

- How do you work under the direction of Sergei Fedorov?

- Sergey Viktorovich is an eminent player. He played in the KHL, and in the NHL, and in the national team. He has a lot of experience, so he always tries to share it with us. It is very interesting to learn something new and use it in the game.

- Shalunov and Mamin left CSKA. Who will take their place?

- There are many experienced guys in the team who have played in the national team. Plus, foreign hockey players arrived. There are many leaders in the team, and everyone can decide the outcome of the match.

- How did the foreigners adapt to the club?

- We always try to help them. I know English well and always try to talk to foreigners. They ask me something, I give them a hint. Friendship in the team always helps.

- How do you physically feel at the end of preseason?

- It will already remain in the team. We cannot reveal our pre-season preparation. We will see in the season.

- Did you have enough rest during your vacation?

- Of course it was enough. Two or three days pass after the vacation, and the eyes are already beginning to burn. I already want to go out on the ice, play with a puck, practice. Rest is always enough.

- How do you play with such experienced players as Sergei Andronov?

- Of course, every shift, sitting on a bench or going to the site, you watch the actions of more experienced guys and spy on something from them. And you try to repeat on the next shift. Of course, they somehow encourage us, because for us, young people, the first or second year to play at the base is a little exciting. In this regard, we are very grateful to them, they are very helpful.
