Marat Khairullin: We needed more net drive

Post-game, CSKA forward Marat Khairullin faced the media following the game against Dinamo Minsk.

– How much did you feel you were in control of the game?

– No goals mean no control. I think that we needed more net drive. The opponent played well defensively; we needed to get more shots and create some traffic in front." Score a greasy goal, and that might open up the game.

– For you, CSKA is a new team and a new head coach. How’s the adjustment period going?

– In principle it’s normal, there’s still time. It’s been three weeks, and I’m finally finding my legs and getting into the system. Everything is in progress, everything is great.

Would you say this is the most defensive and structured hockey you’ve ever played in your career?

– I wouldn't say he's defensive in any way. We're generally playing well offensively, and we're also focusing on our defensive game. We need a balanced game.

– We know Igor Valerievich as a man who knows how to build championship teams. Many people have you as the favorites right now. How to react to this?
– Reporters just make things up in August. But we work day after day, moving towards our goal and only becoming better.

–How do you like CSKA's new jerseys for the season?

– Very cool and beautiful. I like the color red and the jersey looks good. The whole team is happy. CSKA has had so many legendary players, so of course, I followed a lot of them.
