CSKA head coach Igor Nikitin spoke about the opening days of training camp.
– What do zero in on during first training sessions?
– It's too early to dial in anything. We need to organize everything, set the ground rules, so the guys could vibe with them. Step by step, no need to rush, but we are working on the fundamental things.
– There are new guys on the team. Did you have a one-on-one talk about the asks and the game system?
- It's too early to talk about the system. The task is to gel with the team and understand the the standard to uphold. Once again, we are not in a hurry; our goal is not to do everything at once. The guys are all experienced and well-adapted, I don’t think there will be anything extraordinary for them.
– The rookies are up with with the main squad. Do they have any chance to play in the season?
– We ran a spring and then a summer camp with them before the main one. We did everything to ensure that they have a high compete level and meet the grade. If they can do that, then they will have a chance to play. But first, their task is simple: to make it through the camp.
