Though both teams have changed substantially during preseason, they are still leaders of the Western conference.
Power play was the key for the win today. CSKA opened the score in the first period after Mikhail Naumenkov's shot. A few minutes later it was Naumenkob, who violated the ruled, and SKA answered with a power play goal. Soon visitors could even take the lead, but were not able to beat CSKA's defence playing 5 on 3.
And CSKA punished the opponent. The second period was not even close, home team had huge advantage and scored twice, both times in power play. Konstantin Okulov, who has recently become a father of two daughters, was the scorer in both episodes. After this SKA had no real chances to come back. The most notable episode in the third period was the fight between Andronov and Timkin.
CSKA continues to hold the first place in the conference after this win.
