CSKA forward Denis Guryanov, who scored a brace against Metallurg, shared his thoughts on the game:
– What caused the slow start, and how were you able to battle back so strongly?
– The puck took a bad bounce, the other team got lucky. But maybe we just came out flat. Great job rallying back to erase the deficit and steal the win.
– Does this show the team's mental toughness?
- Yes, sure. The boys played great, and Samonov was huge for us. Nobody's putting their heads down. Everybody knew we had to bring our A-game, especially since it was only the second period. We just need to play our game and we'll be fine.
– How did you manage to get that look at the empty net late in the second period?
– There was a huge scrum in front of the net, the puck squeaked through a couple of guys and landed right on my tape. He just had to put it in the net.
– After your second goal, it looked like they just fell apart. Would you agree that goal deflated them a bit?
I don't think it matters to any of us whether the opponent is falling apart or not. Our goal is to keep playing hard after every goal and stay on top of our game. No matter what the score is. Everyone showed a lot of character, the boys did a hell of a job.
