CSKA forward Denis Guryanov shared his thoughts on the team's performance during their current road trip.
- Great effort by all the guys, great pace. No time to relax, we gotta keep working and lock down these last two on the road.
– In your experience, is it harder to play the first game or the second game of a Far East road trip?
– I think character plays a huge role here. No matter how tough it gets physically, if you’ve got character and a tight group, you’ll be just fine.
- It was a tough game in Vladivostok, how did you found a way to grind out a win?
At one point in the second period, we dialed it in and played good team hockey. Plus, Dima Gamzin was huge in the shootout. We pushed hard at the right time to lock down the victory.
– On that goal, did you mean to screen the goalie when you skated across the crease?
- Yes, sure. When Nikita Nesterov took the shot, I wanted to screen the goalie. Kolya Kovalenko did a great job tracking down the rebound and fed it to me, so all I had to do was tap it into a wide-open net.
– The road trip concludes in Togliatti. Does this game mean a little something extra to you?
– This is my hometown. I grew up here, playing minor hockey, the juniors, and eventually making it to the KHL. Many relatives and friends come to watch the game. So yeah, it’s always fun to play in that place.
