On this day in 1980, demolition work began at the Central Sports Club of the Army Ice Palace on Leningradsky Prospekt, which was built in 1964 and housed 3,000 spectators. A new arena was erected on this site in 1991, which later received the name of Vsevolod Bobrov. The Central Sports Club of the Army Sports School is based in the palace, and also hosted home matches of Zvezda (Major Hockey League) and the Red Army. For the summer, he planned the demolition of the Central Sports Club of the Army’s Ice Sports Palace and the construction of a modern sports complex in its place by 2024.
On May 23, 2019, in the quarterfinals of the World Cup in Bratislava, the Russian national team defeated the Americans - 4:3. The newly minted Gagarin Cup winners from Central Sports Club of the Army scored: Mikhail Grigorenko scored the winning goal, and Kirill Kaprizov scored the third. In the semifinals, our team took on the Finnish national team.
