Every day in the CSKA calendar is important. We remember CSKA history and interesting facts from January 21.

- On January 21, 1947, CSKA team successfully started the decisive "Tournament of Three" for the medals of the first USSR Championship. At stadium "Dinamo" under the open sky in the presence of 5000 spectators CDKA defeated Spartak Moscow with a 1:0 score thanks to a goal by forward Evgeny Babich, scored in the second period. Our team's goal was brilliantly defended by Dmitry Petrov.

- That day in 1964, in Moscow, on the eve of the departure for the Olympics in Innsbruck, the Soviet national team in an experimental line-up scored a dozen pucks against the Americans, conceding just one. Our goalie was Anatoly Ragulin, one of the two twin brothers of the famous defenseman Alexandr Ragulin. Next season the two A's will be the national champions in CSKA.   

- The Moscow CSKA team played hard on that day in the uniform of the USSR national team. In the second game of the 1969 Canadian tour, ours trashed the Maple Leafs with a 7:0 score in Vancouver. Boris Mikhailov and Vladimir Vikulov scored two goals each, Vladimir Petrov scored one.  

- On January 21, 1978, CSKA lost in Chelyabinsk to Traktor with a 1:2 score. CSKA team got the puck from Olympic champion Boris Alexandrov. Three Sergey – Makarov, Starikov and Mylnikov stood out for the home team. Later all three of them put on CSKA jerseys: forward Makarov and defenseman Starikov on a regular basis, and goalie Mylnikov, who all his life dreamed of playing for our team, in the superseries against NHL clubs.

- That day in 2020, the reigning Gagarin Cup winners, the Moscow CSKA team came from behind with a 3:2 score in the game with SKA St. Petersburg, led by the head coach of the national team, Alexei Kudashov. Sergey Tolchinsky scored twice and Konstantin Okulov once. Alas, another meeting between these two playoff rivalry opponents was interrupted by the coronavirus epidemic.

- Exactly one year ago, CSKA defeated Amur with a 3:2 score at home. Two (1+1) points each were scored by forwards Anton Slepyshev and Mario Kempe. The winning goal was scored by the young forward Kirill Maksimov.
