Darren Dietz: We made a good step forward, but the last step is the hardest

The defender of CSKA summed up the results of the fifth match of the series.

— Victory is the main thing. I think all the guys understand that this is not our best game. The result is there and now it is more important.

— What can be attributed to the not the best game performed by CSKA?

— The opponent played great, added to game. We were ready: something worked out, something didn't. This is a good experience for us, we are preparing further.

— Do optional deletions interfere with the team?

— Their squad of the power play plays well. We don't want to give them a chance to play in the power play, it concerns each of our players. But sometimes it turns out that way.

— Is it true that Severstal is trying to catch CSKA on relaxation?

— In Cherepovets, when we won 9:3 — how many times did they dissmissed the goalkeeper? So the score doesn't really dictate the game. I repeat once again that the opponent is strong. There are no weak players in this league. They are fighting and will continue to do so. We have made a good step forward, but the last step is the hardest.

— CSKA goalkeepers have a percentage of reflected shots less than 90%. How should defenders act in such a situation?

— Absolutely, this statistic is still a team one. Somewhere we gave opponent to create scoring chances, it's impossible. This is a team defense should be.

— You are not the first year in the KHL. Have you probably never seen such an even playoff?

— Many reasons, but it's fun to play like this. When you can beat any opponent, it's great. I think all the fans like it and the players like it too.
