Adelina Sotnikova: Each player should to be wild with himself and the opponent

The first in Russian history Olympic champion in single figure skating, Adelina Sotnikova, who attended the opening game of the final series of the Gagarin Cup, in an interview with the CSKA press service, gave parting words to the CSKA players, shared her emotions from skating with a hockey stick, and told what she pays attention to in raising future champions.

- How often do you attend hockey games and what brought you here today of all days?

- Not so often, ‘cause I devote a lot of time to my figure skating school. We recently filmed a video for Match TV on the CSKA ARENA ice, and then I was invited to the game. I had been a pupil of the CSKA school since I was eight, so I came to cheer for the team with great pleasure.

- We observed your graceful ride with a hockey stick.

- Probably, a hockey stick is not mine (laughs). I have never been able to make it into the gate.

- Women's hockey is developing well in Russia now, maybe you can still try your hand?

- I think my figure skating is enough for me.

- CSKA is still inferior. In your professional experience, what should the team add to their games?

- Each player should to be wild with himself and the opponent. And in the remaining games, work at their max in order to achieve the set goal. Still, so far only one game has taken place, and the series lasts up to four victories.

- Could you share your near-term plans?

- To devote all my time to school and my group, because I already have a large number of children. Very good specialists work. This is the assistant coach Maksim Miroshkin, who helps me with my group. So far I have not shown children in competitions, because I believe that first you need to work on technique and gliding. To work out everything, and then demonstrate the finished result.

- When will you compete with other strong schools in the country?

- I didn't think about it yet, ‘cause I want the children to be partially like me, since I skated and still skate well. When I understand that they are ready, then they will take part in the contests. And when exactly it will come to the competition - the life will show.
