Seven years without Viktor Tikhonov

On November 24, 2014, CSKA and the entire hockey world suffered an irreparable loss: the legendary coach of the Army team and the USSR national team, three-time Olympic champion, eight-time world champion and multiple USSR champion Viktor Vassilievich Tikhonov passed away.

The name of Viktor Vassilyevich Tikhonov is inextricably linked with the victorious march of CSKA and the USSR national team in the domestic and international arenas in the 1970s and 1980s. Under his responsive leadership a whole galaxy of players grew up who are now considered legends of national and world hockey - Vladimir Krutov, Igor Larionov, Sergey Makarov, Vyacheslav Fetisov, Alexey Kasatonov, Valery Kamensky, Sergey Fedorov, Pavel Bure and other famous hockey players. Many things without which modern hockey is unthinkable - the game in four fives, short shifts of players - all this was first tested and put into practice by Viktor Tikhonov. Victor Vassilyevich was faithful to the Army club until his last days, both in the moments of glory and in the periods of turmoil.

The memory of Viktor Vassilyevich will always live in the hearts of fans around the world and each of us.
