75 years since the birth of Alexandr Gusev

The famous CSKA defender, Olympic champion and seven-time USSR champion on CSKA Team, Alexandr Gusev was born this day.

Today Alexandr Vladimirovich Gusev, 1976 Olympic champion, 1973 and 1974 World and European champion, seven times USSR champion, the participant of the USSR - Canada 1972 Super Series and the participant of the Canada Cup in 1976 would be 75 years old.

Before his debut in CSKA, the graduate of the Children's and Youth Sports School together with Valeri Kharlamov played in Zvezda from Chebarkul. Alexandr Gusev was known for his excellent skating, sense of first pass and perfect shooting. The defenseman played 313 games (64 goals) in the USSR championships and was repeatedly included in the list of the best players of the season.

After his career ended, Alexandr coached SKA MBO (Kalinin) from 1984 to 1990. And until his death, he continued to play in veteran tournaments as a member of the USSR Hockey Legends HC.

Alexandr Gusev passed away on July 22, 2020, at the age of 73.
