— When did you find out about CSKA’s interest?
— To be honest, just right on the day of the trade. And no conversations before that.
— Any approaches from other KHL clubs?
— There were a lot of talks in the media. You'd better ask my agent about other options. I can't say anything. I might get somewhere else. But I’m happy to get to CSKA. This is a serious team with a rich history. I'm sure everything will be fine.
— You are definitely taking two steps forward in your career, aren’t you?
— It's a challenge for me, seriously. And now I have one goal – to prove that I deserve a place in the team. Everything is turning around my performance. For sure, Nikitin’s opinion is also important. The role he wants to put me in. And I am happy to join the army team. So, I think I can get along with this challenge.
— Any worries about being a healthy scratch due to high competition?
— No worries at all. On the rink, everyone is equal. And in any way, the coach will get only the best ones on the ice.
— On the other hand, CSKA has enough young hockey players, so let's take Prokhor Poltapov. Having them around you, will it make the adaptation process easier?
— Prokhor and I have known each other for a very long time. And many other guys too. And by the way, Poltapov is a real legend of our neighborhood. We befriended when we were in the Russian national team, getting to the World Youth Championship together. Then we could talk during the games or after the final buzzer.
— Nikitin took over the army team after your transfer. Did you have some words with him already?
— Yeap, we called each other immediately after his appointment, but I cannot give you any details. It’s interesting to collaborate with such a specialist. And it's cool when you get the opportunity to work with a coach who just won the Gagarin Cup and is overwhelmed with coaching ambitions. And for sure, I will get invaluable experience. Everything will be fine. I think we can keep on with him.
— Have you set any goals for the next season yet?
— Firstly, I would like to finally try my hand at the KHL playoffs. Secondly, to win the Gagarin Cup. The army team played the last two games not too well and dropped out in the opening round. So, I am eager to get them back on track to victory.
