We are at a disadvantage in Cherepovets

The teams already met last week. After the break for Euro Hockey Tour games, CSKA outworked Severstal in Moscow by penalty shootout on November 15 (3:2), breaking their nine-game winning streak - the highest in the opponents' history. Nevertheless, Stalevary have scored in 15 games in a row, which is also a record for the club. In their last game, the Cherepovets outworked Vityaz (2:1) in a penalty shot on a visit. CSKA team got a confident win in the Army derby over SKA (3-1). That win was Sergey Fedorov's 20th in the league, which allowed taking third place in the West. Severstal ended in the top 5 of the conference.

In comparison with their game against SKA, CSKA team underwent one change. Popov joined Andronov and Nordström in the third lineup.

The start was the visitors’ one. CSKA team spent most of the game time in the opponent’s zone. However, the hosts' tight defense did not allow frequent shots on goal.

After the opponent's initial onslaught, Severstal tried to even the game. CSKA set the first dangerous moment in the game. Popov shot from behind the goal, but Podjapolski showed strong play. In the middle of the period, the teams played almost eight minutes without stops.

Three minutes before the buzzer, CSKA players were shorthanded. And Stalevary managed to open the scoring. Vladislav Kodola was the goalscorer.

Soon after the conceded goal, the Muscovites had to play in a 4 on 5 format again. But this time they managed to stand up.

Sorkin ran out on goal alone in the opening period of the second frame, but Podjapolski saved his club. However, the attacker contrived and shot on goal again. But the puck didn't cross the line. On the home team's counter attack Fedotov already proved he was there.

At the beginning of the second period, as well as in the opening stages, there was a minimum number of stops. CSKA goalie saved his team twice in a row in one of the Severstal attacks by turning two consecutive tricky shots aside.

At the end of the period, CSKA team seized the initiative, building up pressure in the Cherepovets zone, but could not unlock the Yellow and Black's goal.

In 13 seconds before the buzzer to the second half, Adam Liszka made a 2:0 score having tied it up on his team's power play.

CSKA were active at the start of the third period, forcing their opponent to commit two straight fouls, after which the Muscovites intensively attacked the opponent's goal several times. Grigorenko had the most accurate chance to cut the lead. But Stalevary’s goalie was able to block the puck after a shot by the forward. Then Andronov and Nordström created two dangerous chances, but CSKA team was somewhat off in the closing stages of their attacks. Okulov also had some tricky shots at the end of the game, but the saves by Podjapolski kept the score unchanged. After that, CSKA team played well on offense, but again the puck didn't hit the goal. Fedotov kept out the home team's dangerous shots on the counterattack, but in the 57th minute, Dmitri Moiseyev scored Severstal's third goal. CSKA team did hardly anything that night. As a result, Severyane won with a 3:0 score.

CSKA will play their next game on November 26 in Helsinki against Jokerit.
