Starting 2023 with a comeback victory

For the first match of 2023, the CSKA team came out with big changes in the roster. The leaders of the team — Mikhail Grigorenko, Maksim Sorkin, Maksim Mamin, as well as goalkeeper Adam Reideborn — did not take part in the derby with Dynamo. Aleksandr Sharychenkov took the place in the goal, 17-year-old Timofey Obvintsev turned out to be the second goalkeeper. Forward Vsevolod Gaydamak made his debut in the KHL among the fielders.

The first period began unsuccessfully for CSKA. Hardly had a minute passed when Jordan Weal already opened a score, taking advantage of the confusion on the CSKA's spot. For a long time the score remained unchanged, but in the 12th minute Sergey Plotnikov scored a return goal from a fine pass by Christian Yarosh. For the Slovak defender, that scoring was the first one in CSKA. The first period resulted in 1:1.

In the second period, CSKA got the opportunity of a power play, but failed to send Potapov off. When no one expected problems — Christian Yarosh lost the puck in his zone, and young Igor Chernyshov brought the guest team forward again. Less than three minutes passed when Konstantin Okulov brought CSKA back into the game, scoring in the third game in a row — 2:2.

The third period passed without goals, but in overtime, the CSKA's signature tactics worked again. When playing 4 on 3 without a goalkeeper Vladislav Kamenev brought CSKA victory with a powerful shot — 3:2. We are successfully starting the year 2023!
