The 20-year-old defender signed a contract with the army club until the end of the 2025/2026 season. He will play for Zvezda in the All-Russian Hockey League in the upcoming season.
Smyshlyaev is a Yugra team trainee. He made his MHL debut in the 2021/22 season for Yugra Mammoths and had 37 points in 173 games (3 goals, 35 assists). Last season he played one game in the VHL for Yugra. He was traded to Avangard in November 2024. Pavel played 38 games with Omskiye Sokoly in the Youth Hockey League (one goal, 14 assists), and skated 15 VHL games with Omskie Krylia (two assists).
