CSKA forward Marat Khairullin breaks down the current road trip.
– You scored your first goal for CSKA in Khabarovsk. As a forward, how important was it for you to get that one out of the way as quickly as possible?
– Of course, it's important. It was a bit of a rough patch, but the guys and the coaching staff had my back. Yesterday's goal came from hard work, battling out there, and great teamwork, with a little bit of puck luck. I hope the results keep trending up, both for me and the whole team.
– How did he tip that in so perfectly? It looked like the puck was going wide.
That was pure instinct. The puck was coming fast, no time to think, just a redirection.
In Vladivostok, you also scored the game-winning shootout goal. Tell us about that moment.
– That was one of my go-to plays, and that was one of them. That was a good shot. Dima Gamzin came up huge just before that, too.
– How the team turned things around after a slow start?
– We can’t afford to lose, especially on home ice. It wasn't personal, just fixing our errors. It’s all about teamwork. When we play for the guy next to us and buy in as a group, that’s when we get the two points.
