CSKA forward Maxim Sorkin, 21, told the club press office how he feels about his contract extension, how he is spending his vacation and why he is so reticent when talking to reporters.
- From the extension of the contract, the emotions are the most positive - I stay in the club of my birth. I'll work hard helping the team to prove their high level.
- Igor Nikitin said on Tuesday that " it is not so easy for young people to get into the CSKA team, but there is a vivid example of Max Sorkin." Do you realize that you are now the top of the line for the young hockey players of the club system?
- Yes, I do understand the degree of responsibility. The main thing is to keep it up.
- What game components do you need to improve to get even stronger?
- In all game components you need to get stronger each and every year.
- How would you assess the past season for yourself?
- The final, of course, was not very peachy. It is clear to me that I still have something to work on. But in general, the season turned out to be quite good for me.
- What does the team need to improve in order to regain the Gagarin Cup?
- The coaches will tell us what needs to be done for this.
- Which of the 66 games of the season did you remember the most?
- I can't answer that question right away for this particular season. Probably the most emotional thing about playing for CSKA was the very first game, when I made my debut in the regular KHL championship game against Dynamo Moscow in the fall of 2019 (the CSKA players won 2-1 in a foreign arena back then).
- And that crazy match in St. Petersburg, when you scored the first goal in the KHL playoffs in your career?
- There are games that are memorable, but I could not right away single out any one. During all this time, there were many bright matches. I guess I remember my debut more than anything else.
- Two minutes after that goal against SKA, you gave an interview during halftime. The journalists described you as a modest guy. Are you getting used to the increased media popularity?
- I'm not, I just try to be more modest. I don't want to say too many words, so as not to say too much. I concentrate on training and playing for the team.
- How are you feeling now, what are you doing on vacation?
- I went to the country, I decided to take a load off with my parents at their summer house. Feeling good, we are preparing for the new season one step at a time.
- When will the preparation for the season begin?
- There is no information yet, but most likely in July. I will work according to an individual plan, if they give a team task, we'll be working on it.
- Miss skating on the ice for three weeks without hockey?
- Yes, this time was enough to make me want to go skating as soon as possible.
- Did the necessary vacation reboot go well?
"You could say that. I have already forgotten the last season, I am looking forward to a new one. I have fully recovered psychologically and physically.
- What are your expectations for the 2021/22 season?
- I look forward to winning the Gagarin Cup in the new season - this is a team goal. I am looking forward to the start of the new season.
