In the Central Sports Club of the Army calendar, every day is important. We recall CSKA history and interesting facts from May 12.

On May 12, 1988, CSKA defeated Dynamo Riga with 4-2 in the first home game of the playoff final thanks to a brace from Sergei Makarov, goals from Andrey Khomutov and Vyacheslav Fetisov. The score in the series up to three victories was 2-1 in favor of the CSKA team. In Riga, the rivals exchanged victories (7:3 in favor of CSKA, 1:2).

On this day, at the finish of the 1974/1975 national championship, CSKA defeated Dynamo Moscow 8:2, missing the goal on the first minute. Boris Mikhailov and Vladimir Lutchenko each scored twice, supported by Vladimir Petrov, his namesake Popov, Alexander Volchkov and Boris Alexandrov.

On May 12, at the 1978 World Cup in Prague, the USSR national team led by Viktor Tikhonov (for him it was his debut at the world championships) defeated Tre Kronor 7:1. A hat-trick was made by Helmut Balderis, one goal by the team captain Boris Mikhailov. Vladislav Tretiak missed a penalty shot.

On this day at the 2008 World Cup in Quebec, a goal by Sergei Fedorov helped the Russian team defeat Switzerland 5:3. At the 2013 World Cup in Helsinki, the goal of Denis Denisov summed up the victorious match with the Slovakian national team (3: 1).

On May 12, at the 2016 World Cup in Moscow, Alexei Marchenko and Nikita Zaitsev contributed to the 10:1 defeat of Denmark with goals, and Roman Lyubimov with an assist.

In Copenhagen 2018, the goals of Kirill Kaprizov, Nikita Nesterov and Mikhail Grigorenko helped to defeat the Swiss national team 4:3.

In 2019, at the World Cup in Bratislava, Ivan Telegin hit the goals of the Austrians with the very first touch of the puck, we won 5: 0.
