Forward Alexander Popov, who turned 42 last summer, has finished his career as a hockey player, but will continue to work in the CSKA system as a player development coach. His duties will include working with hockey players of all three teams of the club system – CSKA, "Zvezda" and "Krasnaya Armiya". The contract with Popov has already been signed.
Alexander played for CSKA starting from the 2016/17 season. As a member of the CSKA club, he played 315 matches, in which he scored 133 (43 +90) points with a utility score of "+91". He won the Gagarin Cup twice (in 2019 and 2022) together with the team, and last season he was also recognized as the most valuable player of the playoffs.
